Last winter, my family and I went to Kona Village in Hawaii for vacation. For the first time in a very long time, I felt completely relaxed. Every night I would go back to this one specific hammock and listen to a combination of my ipod and the waves. I could see the stars above me, the ocean to the side, and the sand below me. I wrote this song while on the hammock one night... (This song actually features a lot of song references because that was what I was listening to at the time when I wrote this song)
Paradise Beneath That Tree 12/24/08 My feet trudge through the coarse sand To get to where I can listen to my favorite band The closer I get to my favorite place The closer I get to stopping time and space And when I get to paradise beneath that tree I’ll sing this song, a song for you and me See the stars twinkle Hear the waves rumble And feel the hammock sway beneath us The past is gone forever And tomorrow may never come Time moves slowly Lying beneath that tree Lying down in this swinging bed Can feel my body drop down like lead Sing a hallelujah for all the world to see Maybe then I can score a little victory And when I get to paradise beneath that tree I’ll sing this song, a song for you and me See the stars twinkle Hear the waves rumble And feel the hammock sway beneath us The past is gone forever And tomorrow may never come Time moves slowly Lying beneath that tree Float me out to all at sea Float me out just to let me be Float me out to all at sea Float me out just to let me be I have never been so very alone But now I feel as if I’m part of something more The stars and the sea come together as one Now I finally feel as if I belong And when I get to paradise beneath that tree I’ll sing this song, a song for you and me This inspires me, because I find it:
